More Observatory’s datasets released on Government Open Data Portal and Common Spatial Data Infrastructure (CSDI) portal (2025)

The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) has been releasing weather data in machine-readable format on its website since 2012. The data are also available on the Open Data Portal (This link will open in a new windowDATA.GOV.HK) and CSDI portal (This link will open in a new windowPORTAL.CSDI.GOV.HK). With a view to opening up more data for free use by the public, HKO released 4 new datasets today (26 June 2025):
- Daily grass minimum temperature (This link will open in a new windowOpen Data/This link will open in a new window CSDI)
- Daily mean sea temperature (This link will open in a new windowOpen Data/This link will open in a new window CSDI)
- Daily number of hours of reduced visibility (This link will open in a new windowOpen Data/This link will open in a new window CSDI)
- Hourly ambient gamma radiation level in Hong Kong (This link will open in a new windowOpen Data/This link will open in a new window CSDI)
