Additional Information on Cloud Condition at Chek Lap Kok
In response to aviation users' requests, information on cloud type and the height of cloud layers are made available on the AMIDS - "Cloud Condition at CLK" to supplement the aviation weather report (METAR) which contains information on the heights of major cloud layers only. With the additional information, users can easily differentiate the type of clouds, for example, stratiform clouds or convective clouds. In addition, such information may facilitate user's anticipation of the type of weather to be expected, for example, fog/mist, rain/showers or thunderstorms. For a brief explanation of the commonly observed clouds in Hong Kong and the likely weather phenomena associated with them, please visit the Educational Resources page on the Observatory site at https://kids.weather.gov.hk/common/en/ebook_shelf.html |
