    The Hong Kong Observatory Headquarters had been the reference synoptic station for Hong Kong since weather observations began in 1884. It was replaced by the King's Park Meteorological Station on 1 July 1992. The Hong Kong International Airport became the reference synoptic station for Hong Kong on 1 April 2000.
