The collaborative project between the Hong Kong Observatory, Airport Authority Hong Kong, and CLP Power Hong Kong on “Big Data Analytics for Energy Management at Hong Kong International Airport” has been awarded the Asia Pacific Rim Region Energy Project of the Year Award 2021 by the Association of Energy Engineers, in recognition of the dedication and excellent performance of the project in energy efficiency and saving. The three parties have collaborated to apply meteorological and airport-specific big data to develop a cooling load prediction model for the HKIA, to optimise use of energy for cooling the airport passenger terminals, thereby achieving energy saving.
