The Eagle Nebula, also known as M16, is a famous emission nebula located in the constellation of Serpens Cauda. The young open star cluster inside the nebula generates intense ultraviolet radiation that ionizes the gas of the nebula. As the nebula is abundant in hydrogen which emits red light when ionized, red is the common colour found in emission nebulae.
