Director of the Hong Kong Observatory visiting Government Flying Service (GFS)

He had a discussion with the Controller of GFS, Captain Michael C.P. Chan, to review the collaboration between the two departments on various areas, such as windshear and turbulence investigation, meteorological data collection during tropical cyclone situations and radiation monitoring. They also looked into future possibilities In particular, the replacement fixed-wing aircraft of GFS will be equipped with a set of sophisticated meteorological measuring system and will have real-time data downlinking capability. The possibilities of measuring vertical profiles of meteorological parameters and sampling fine particles in the atmosphere were also explored.
