The Observatory's staff participating in the Aviation Meteorology Technical Exchange Seminar of Southwest Air Traffic Management Bureau (ATMB), Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC)

At the invitation of Southwest ATMB, CAAC, the Observatory's Senior Scientific Officer, Mr. P.W. Chan, participated in the Aviation Meteorology Technical Exchange Seminar held at Teng Chong, Yunnan, between 6 and 7 December 2012. At the seminar, Mr. Chan presented the Observatory's windshear and turbulence alerting services. His presentation drew much enthusiastic discussions, in particular, in the applications of Light Detection And Ranging systems and Terminal Doppler Weather Radar. ATMB also shared the experience in the use of meteorological instruments such as lightning location system and wind profilers. The seminar strengthened exchange of technical experience in aviation meteorology between the two parties.
