Secretary-General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) visited the Hong Kong Observatory

Dr. LIU Fang, Secretary-General of ICAO paid a visit to the Hong Kong Observatory on 16 August 2018. Mr. SHUN Chi-ming, Director of the Observatory, briefed her the latest developments of aviation weather services in Hong Kong, the Observatory's participation in conferences and activities of ICAO and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and also the Asian Aviation Meteorological Centre (AAMC) which was co-established by the Observatory, the Civil Aviation Administration of China and the China Meteorological Administration. The two parties exchanged views on assisting developing countries to build capacity for aviation weather services through international and regional co-operation. Dr. LIU then visited the Central Forecasting Office of the Observatory, and attended a video conference with the main centre of AAMC at Beijing.
