    The team was commended for making substantial contribution in the design of bollard style enclosure for automatic weather station.  The design was granted a patent and subsequently filed at the Patent Registry in 2020.  Their contributions have greatly enhanced the public image of the department.

    The colleague was commended for his substantial contribution in serving as a facilitator at the online practical sessions of the workshop on “Development of Products from Numerical Weather Prediction Models and Ensemble Prediction System for High-impact Weather Forecasting” under the Voluntary Cooperation Programme of the World Meteorological Organization during 8 to 11 December 2020.  His contribution has greatly enhanced the public image of the department.

    The team was commended for their substantial contribution in resuming the operation of Tate’s Cairn Weather Radar on 6 June 2020. They took up emergency maintenance and made substantial effort to get access to the radar station which was blocked by landslide, and worked for nearly 12 hours to help resuming its normal operation. Their contributions have greatly enhanced the efficiency of the department.

    The team was commended for their substantial contribution in relocation of the Automatic Gamma Spectrometry System (AGSS) and installation of a replacement AGSS on a remote island. This was the first time for the Observatory to have dual redundant system for monitoring of gamma radionuclides in the air. Their contributions have significantly improved the efficiency of the Observatory.

    The team was commended for their substantial contribution in installing anemometers and radiation detector in vessels, enabling the Observatory to obtain real-time wind and radiation data in data-sparse sea areas from vessels. Their contributions have significantly improved the efficiency of the Observatory.

    The team was commended for their substantial contribution in repairing the local visibility meter on Waglan Island. They stayed on the island due to changes in weather and continued to monitor the operation of the automatic weather station to ensure the provision of real-time data. Their performance was extremely appreciated.
