Introduction of the Book
The Book "Stories under passing storms", a collection of essays to commemorate the 140th anniversary of the Hong Kong Observatory, comprises over 60 Chinese and English articles written by directors of the Observatory of different generations, serving and retired staff of the Observatory, stakeholders, scholars and counterparts. The book not only documents the Observatory's development, but also shares heart-touching human stories including the thrilling experiences during the passage of Super Typhoon Mangkhut and the learning endeavors of the new colleagues joining the Observatory. The book also showcases to the readers the evolution of the Observatory as well as the Hong Kong society over the past century through numerous precious photos and enriching content.

At $110 a copy, the book is available for sale at the online Government Bookstore, the HKO Resource Centre, the Publications Sales Unit of the Information Services Department and the Kowloon Map Publications Centre of the Lands Department.
