The Greater Pearl River Delta Weather Website Enhanced with Lightning Information

The weather website for the Greater Pearl River Delta is enhanced today (4 Jan) with lightning information. The information is the lightning location in the Pearl River Delta as recorded by the"Lightning Location Network".

The "Lightning Location Network" was a network set up by the Hong Kong Observatory in collaboration with the Guangdong Meteorological Bureau, and the Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau. It monitors lightning activities over the vicinity of Pearl River Delta round the clock to provide lighting location information to better safeguard the public from lightning damage.

The Greater Pearl River Delta weather website was also a joint project by the three meteorological services. The website is a one-stop portal of weather information of the three places including weather warnings, forecasts and observations. It provides quality and reliable weather service for the public, particularly those who travel frequently around the three places. The number of page views of the website reach about 13 million since its official operation in 2011.
