South China Coastal Waters

Weather Situation:
A southwesterly airstream is affecting the south China
coastal waters.

At 4 p.m., Super Typhoon Mekkhala with maximum sustained
winds of about 185 kilometres per hour near its centre was
located at 19.3 degrees north, 124.7 degrees east. It is
forecast to move north at about 10 kilometres per hour in
the general direction of the vicinity of the Ryukyu Islands.

Area forecasts for the next 24 hours

Hong Kong Adjacent Waters:
Southwest force 4, occasionally force 5.
Isolated showers.
Moderate seas.

Nan'ao and Shanwei:
West to southwest force 4, occasionally force 5.
Moderate seas.

South of Hong Kong and Shangchuan Dao:
South to southwest force 4 to 5.
Moderate seas.

Outlook for the following 48 hours 
South to southwesterly winds of force 4 to 5. Isolated
showers and squally thunderstorms.
