The Observatory Wins 5 Awards in Civil Service Outstanding Service Award Scheme

The Hong Kong Observatory gained recognition again in the Civil Service Outstanding Service Award Scheme 2019, winning a total of five awards, including the Gold Prize of the Departmental Service Enhancement Award (Small Department Category). This is the sixth time the Observatory winning this award following 2005, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2017. As indicated in adjudicators' comment, the services of the Observatory are wide-ranging and satisfy the needs of different stakeholders. The proactive initiative of new services surpasses the expectations of the users. They also commented that the Observatory is very good in applying new media to interact with the public.
The Observatory was also awarded the following prizes under the scheme:
- Bronze Prize of Team Award (Specialised Service) - "MyFlightWx" mobile app
- Meritorious Award of Team Award (Crisis Support) - Supporting Team for Mangkhut
- Special Citation (Application of Innovation and Technology) of Departmental Service Enhancement Award (Small Department Category)
- Special Citation (Application of Innovation and Technology) of Team Award (Specialised Service) - Regional Specialized Meteorological Centre
