The global ocean heat content reached another record high in 2021, with the seven highest records all in the past seven years. The increase of ocean heat content will lead to a further rise in sea level, and is conducive to the development and intensification of tropical cyclones. Given the backdrop of ongoing warming, it is expected that the intensity of tropical cyclones will increase, and the threat of storm surges accompanying tropical cyclones will increase accordingly.
