General Education Lectures on Aviation Weather
To promote knowledge on aviation meteorology, the Hong Kong Observatory will organise "General Education Lectures on Aviation Weather" in the Lecture Hall of Hong Kong Science Museum on 13 July 2011 (Wednesday).
The lectures will cover weather observation and measurement, weather hazards to aviation, how to interpret aviation weather reports and forecasts, as well as the aviation weather services provided by the Hong Kong Observatory. The guest speakers will share their flying experience in Hong Kong and cross-country as well as use of weather information in flight planning.
The participants will receive a limited edition certificate " For those participants who answer all quiz questions correctly, they can obtain a certificate signed by the Director of the Hong Kong Observatory, Mr. C.M. Shun, for the event at the Hong Kong Observatory Resource Centre upon notification within one month of the completion of the lectures.

Time : 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon (9:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. for registration)
Venue : Lecture Hall, Hong Kong Science Museum,
Speakers : Observatory's officers with experience in aviation weather observation and forecasting
Guest speakers :
- Mr. Francis Y.C. Chin, Q.S., J.P., Flying Instructor, a long distance cross-country record flying aviator and the Venture Air Scout Leader of Venture Air Scouts of the 1064th Kowloon Group;
- Representative of Hong Kong Air Cadet Corps
Language : Cantonese (presentation materials in English or Chinese)
We warmly welcome members of the public, especially students, air scouts and air cadets, to attend the lectures. The admission is free. Children under six are not admitted. The seat quota is 290. Seats are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Prior registration is highly recommended to reserve a seat by filling in the form, and returning to us via email (outreach@hko.gov.hk) or fax (2375 2645) or mail (Aviation Weather Forecast and Warning Services, Hong Kong Observatory, 134A Nathan Road , Kowloon ) by 9 July 2011 (Saturday).
