New "Tidal Information" and "Predicted Tide" webpages

16 July 2015

The Hong Kong Observatory launched the new “Tidal Information” (previously “Real Time Tide”) and “Predicted Tide” webpages today (16 July) for enhancing tidal information services.

The “Tidal Information” webpage is jointly operated by the Observatory and the Marine Department. The latest tide observation data recorded at the 11 tide gauge stations in Hong Kong are displayed on a GIS-based map (Figure 1). Recorded and predicted hourly tide data at the tide gauge stations are shown by moving the mouse along the tidal time series (Figure 2). The tidal time series of all tide gauge stations can also be seen at a glance (Figure 3). The new “Tidal Information” webpage can be accessed at http://www.weather.gov.hk/tide/marine/realtide.htm.

On the new “Predicted Tide” webpage, predicted hourly tide data for the next three years at 14 selected locations in Hong Kong are displayed by moving the mouse along the plotted time series. The predicted hourly tide data can also be shown in text format (Figure 4). The new “Predicted Tide” webpage can be accessed at http://www.weather.gov.hk/tide/predtide.htm
