Launch of New Version 2.0 of "MyObservatory" for Android

The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) launched a new Android version (2.0) of "MyObservatory" today (12 December 2011) to enhance weather services for people on the move. The new version features the following new functions:

• User selectable default screen for 7-day or local weather forecast
• Weather tips for the public when weather warnings are in force
• Display of today's weather warnings
• Radiation information
• Predicted tide charts

The personalized weather service "MyObservatory", launched by the HKO in March 2010, has been well-received with increasing popularity. The total number of page views since its launch has exceeded 1.7 billion by end of November 2011.
