In May 2024, the Observatory organised a workshop on “Promoting Technical Exchanges on Artificial Intelligence (AI) Applications for Tropical Cyclone Analysis and Forecasting”. Experts from 11 Typhoon Committee Members engaged in in-depth discussions and technical sharing on the developments and applications of AI in tropical cyclone analysis and forecasting, covering objective tropical cyclone analysis techniques, monitoring and forecasting extreme weather events, applications of data-driven models, as well as forecast verification. Workshop participants also discussed the requirements for AI technologies and products within the Typhoon Committee region, as well as potential future collaborative projects.
