    Tornado at Chek Lap Kok

    A small tornado occurred at Chek Lap Kok at about 4:20 p.m. on 25 September, lasting about 20 minutes. This happened as an easterly airstream arrived at Hong Kong International Airport, and converged with the prevailing westerly wind, producing a vortex that formed a tornado. (More……)

    On 13 October, Tropical Cyclone Nangka necessitated the issuance of Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 8 in Hong Kong. There were three main reasons for issuing Typhoon Signal No. 8: (1) High winds were predicted; (2) High ground and offshore areas would be affected by high winds; and (3) Squalls and heavy rain were predicted.
