“Localised Heavy Rain Advisory” Service
The Observatory recently launched the “Localised Heavy Rain Advisory”. In addition to the actual rainfall recorded, the issuance of the advisory also takes into consideration the nowcast rainfall, with a view to advising people of localised heavy rain as early as possible, so they can be aware of the situation and make early preparations. Weather Forecasts for Cities in Asia-Pacific Region and Mean Sea-Level Pressure Forecasts Now Available on “Earth Weather”
The Observatory enhanced the “Earth Weather” webpage to provide 3-hourly or 6-hourly forecasts of temperature, humidity, wind direction, wind speed and weather icons for the next nine days for 100 cities in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as forecasts of mean sea-level pressure. (More……)
The Observatory Launches Gamma-Go Workshop
The Observatory organised the first Gamma-Go Workshop in March this year. Participating students learned about radiation through lectures and practical sessions. (More……)
New Names for Tropical Cyclones in 2021
Six new names – Yinxing, Co-may, Nongfa, Ragasa, Koto and Nokaen – have been added to the list of tropical cyclone names in the western North Pacific and the South China Sea this year, to replace six old names. (More……)
