Public Perception of the Services of the Hong Kong Observatory

2023 Survey

Each year we commission an independent market research company to conduct surveys regularly to gauge the public's perception of the accuracy of our forecasts, and the level of satisfaction with the overall service we have provided. The results of the survey conducted in 2023 indicated that on the average, the public considered 78% of the weather forecasts issued were accurate, and gave a score of 7.6 (out of 10) for the Observatory's overall service.

Remark:

The first such public opinion survey began in 1989. The surveys on the level of satisfaction of the overall services provided by the Observatory began in 1999.

The public opinion surveys are carried out by an independent marketing company commissioned by the Hong Kong Observatory. To ensure that the survey results are representative, some 1,000 members of the Hong Kong community that aged 15 or above are interviewed by telephone in each survey.
