Meteorological and radiological measurements on a fishing vessel

The Observatory received in real-time the wind (left) and environmental radiation level (right) data measured by the fishing vessel enroute)
In order to expand weather and radiation monitoring coverage over the sea, the Observatory is conducting a trial in cooperation with a fishermen’s organisation. A set of equipment comprising anemometer and radiation sensor was installed on a fishing vessel, to measure winds and radiation levels in Hong Kong waters and the northern part of the South China Sea. The measured data are transmitted back to the Observatory’s Headquarters in real-time using the latest satellite communication technology.
