The Observatory signed MOU on Cooperation with Solomon Islands Meteorological Service

    Christy Leung Yan-yu

The Hong Kong Observatory recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Cooperation with the Solomon Islands Meteorological Service (SIMS), to enhance collaboration and exchanges in aeronautical meteorological science and technologies. This is the first MOU that the Observatory has established with the official meteorological service of a Pacific island country.

On 27 May 2022, at the invitation of the Solomon Islands Meteorological Service (SIMS), Ms Christy Leung Yan-Yu, Scientific Officer of the Observatory, delivered an online training course on aviation weather forecasting and Significant Meteorological Information (SIGMET) Coordination. Ms Leung joined local trainers plus other overseas experts from Australia, Fiji and New Zealand in sharing their professional expertise.
