The Hong Kong Observatory organised the “Tropical Cyclone Name Collection Activity”, receiving an impressive response of over 20,000 votes during the public voting stage. A total of 20 tropical cyclone names that received the most votes will be incorporated into the “reserve list” of tropical cyclone names of Hong Kong, China. (More……)

Tai Mo Shan Weather Radar: Over 24 years of Long and Meritorious Service

In November 2023, the Tai Mo Shan weather radar (TMSWR), which had operated on the highest peak in Hong Kong for 24 years, was dismantled and would be replaced by a new radar with better performance, to help the Observatory monitor inclement weather. (More……)

The Hong Kong Observatory and Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) jointly produced “Time Travel Climate Mission” to commemorate the 140th anniversary of the Observatory.
