Hong Kong Observatory and China Meteorological Administration Expand Scope of “Arrangements for Long-term Co-operation in Meteorological Science and Technology”

The Administrator of the China Meteorological Administration (CMA), Dr Chen Zhenlin, and the Director of the Hong Kong Observatory, Dr Chan Pak-wai, signed updated “Arrangements for Long-term Co-operation in Meteorological Science and Technology” 1 at the Observatory’s Headquarters on 13 September 2023, to further expand their scope to cover the Belt and Road initiatives and enhance Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area cooperation. Both parties also attended the ceremony for the exchange of the co-operation agreement at the Eighth Belt and Road Summit and a high-level management meeting between the Hong Kong Observatory and CMA.
1The Hong Kong Observatory and CMA first signed a memorandum of understanding on long term co-operation in meteorological science and technology in 1996. In 2001, this was expanded to also incorporate co-operation in meteorological observations and climate services.
